AI in pre-hospital care

AI is becoming increasingly prevalent in healthcare, opening up possibilities for better diagnoses, easier access to medical care and contributes to an improved work environment for doctors and nurses.

In this seminar, we explore the possibilities of using AI in pre-hospital care. Together with PICTA, we will show cases and problematise the use of AI in modern ambulances.

We will bring a physical ambulance to the seminar and present the current research within AI in relation to the ambulance. We cordially invite doctors, nurses, ambulance staff, computer scientists, and students interested in these aspects.

Date: 2019-11-13
Time: 9.00 - 13.00
Place: Stora konferenshallen, Lindholmen Science Park

Please note: The seminar will be held in Enlish, except for the demonstration of the ambulance.

Programme:

  • 09.00 - 9.15: Introduction (Miroslaw Staron and Bengt Arne Sjöqvist)
  • 09.15 - 10.15: Keynote speaker Lars Maaløe - AI in prehospital care: current state, possibilities and challenges
  • 10.15 - 10.45: Coffee (included)
  • 10.45 - 11.05: AI in healthcare - Hype and challenges (Robert Lowe)
  • 11.05 - 11.20: AI for improving the care for trauma and stroke patients (Stefan Candefjord)
  • 11.20 - 11.40: AI as prehospital tool to predict increased risk of sepsis; opportunities and challenges (Bengt Arne Sjöqvist and Hanna Maurin Söderholm)
  • 11.40 - 12.00: The mobile prehospital testbed – demonstration at site of the ”Test ambulance” (Presentation in Swedish by Bengt Arne Sjöqvist and Hanna Maurin Söderholm)
  • 12.00 - 13.00: Lunch + Discussions around the ambulance

Keynote:

Lars MaaløeOur keynote speaker Lars Maaløe, PhD in Machine Learning, will provide an overview of use of AI in prehospital care and emergency medical services settings and describe the current state, possibilities and challenges.

Lars Maaløe is one of Denmark's most prominent young machine learning researchers and has an international profile with a background from Apple in California. His focus is on developing machine learning models for supporting medical professionals. Lars is currently CTO at Corti (Copenhagen, Denmark, corti.ai), who develops a real-time, AI-powered decision support system that identifies important patterns in ongoing conversations and alerts medical professionals of urgent instances, such as cardiac arrest.”
