Erik Stolterman - new honorary doctor at the IT Faculty

On the 20th of October Erik Stolterman, professor and Senior Executive Associate Dean at School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering, Indiana University, is being awarded an honorary doctorate at the IT Faculty, University of Gothenburg.

Erik Stolterman is professor and Senior Executive Associate Dean at School of Informatics, Computing and Engineering, Indiana University, where he has been engaged since 2005. He has a PhD from Umeå University 1991, and has since contributed to research within interaction design, design theory and design philosophy, as well as to research on information technology and society more generally.

With the digitalization of society, we are increasingly exposed to interaction with digital artefacts surrounding us. In this context Erik Stolterman is an important voice pointing the importance of design thinking for anyone involved in the development of technology, organizations and society.

Erik Stolterman is the editor for MIT-Press’ book series Design Thinking/Design Theory. Erik has also published a big amount of research articles and five books, among them The Design Way and Things that Keep us busy – the elements of interaction.

On the 20th of October professor Erik Stolterman is awarded an honorary doctorate at the IT Faculty, University of Gothenburg. The day before, 19th of October, Erik Stolterman is giving a talk "Things that Keep us busy – the elements of interaction".
