Individual study plan for doctoral students (ISP)

An individual study plan for third-cycle studies must be created for each doctoral student. The study plan shall contain the commitment from the department, as well as from the doctoral student, together with a time schedule for the education of the doctoral student.

The individual study plan for third-cycle studies must be created within two months from when you have been accepted as a doctoral student.

The study plan is created together with your supervisor and examiner and is stipulated by the Head of the Department. The plan must contain all planned, ongoing, and completed parts of your doctoral education. The plan will also show how your doctoral education will be financed until the estimated date for your defence (or licentiate seminar).

The individual study plan for third-cycle studies must be followed up and revised once a year. It can also be revised more frequently if there are specific reasons, such as a change in the doctoral education for example, or if there is a request from you as a doctoral student.

The study plan serves as a governing document for the duration of your education and will ensure that it is conducted and monitored in a proper way.
