About the Faculty

The IT Faculty consists of the two departments Applied Information Technology and Computer Science and Engineering, where the latter is common between the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology.

The research at the departments spans the whole spectrum, from theoretical underpinnings to applied systems development. There is an extensive national and international collaboration with academia and industry. The IT Faculty is very international with researchers and PhD students from around 30 different countries.

Already in an early stage collaboration was established between the IT Faculty and the society, companies and authorities. This work has been developed and strengthened. Several courses and programmes are carried on in projects, sometimes in problem based learning, where companies, authorities and other organisations are taking active part in the education.
